Beachwood Sparks hope to have new album out by summer, guest spots by Ariel Pink and Neal Casal

As we’ve reported earlier Beachwood Sparks have recorded new music. We got in touch with Farmer Dave Scher who revealed some interesting facts about the new record. The album will hopefully be out before summer and will feature the classic Beachwood Sparks line up of Chris Gunst, Brent Rademaker, Farmer Dave Scher and Aaron Sperske, with additional help from Ariel Pink and Neal Casal among others.

This brand new Beachwood Sparks song was performed last Saturday at a backyard gig in Silverlake, CA. It’s a lovely little jangle gem that certainly reminds us of why the world really needs a new Beachwood Sparks album!

The Tyde covers Primal Scream

The Tyde is featured on a new covers compilation called C44 put together “to celebrate the twentieth birthday of French monthly magazine Magic, Revue Pop Moderne“.

Darren Rademaker and Co. contributes with a spectoresque version of Primal Scream’s Leaves taken from the Scottish band’s jangly debut LP Sonic Flower Groove. The track was recorded by Farmer Dave Scher and features vocals by Piper Kaplan of Puro Instinct fame.

There’s a couple of interesting BWS related shows coming up in the coming weeks:

This saturday January 30th, Farmer Dave will take the stage at The Prospector in Long Beach, CA together with Greater California to perform songs from his solo album as well as by Beachwood Sparks and All Night Radio! For more info go here.

And on February 12th Brent Rademaker will be opening for Evan Dando at the Crowbar in Tampa, FL. Brent has promised to do “a few BWS #’s for good measure”! More info here.

Painted Hills’ debut album available for pre-order

The self-titled debut album from former Beachwood Sparks singer/songwriter Josh Schwartz‘ new band Painted Hills is now available for pre-order at parasol.com. As we’ve reported earlier, the album is going to be released in February on The Tyde drummer/Velvet Crush legend Ric Menck’s Bird Song label.
