    Hello All,

I had the great fortune to attend three SoCal shows this weekend (LA at the Echoplex, San Diego, and the Sunset Junction Festival). You may be excited to learn that "Farmer" Dave played all three shows of these shows. I'm not sure if he played San Francisco on Thursday (I didn't make that one), but he was there in LA and San Diego.

At the Echoplex, Mia Doi Todd played an opening set. Later, she joined BWS during the close of their set for "Ponce De Leon Blues", which Brent later said that they had never really played live before. It was magnificent.

With "Farmer" Dave in the line-up, we got to hear "The Sun Surrounds Me" and "Ghost Dance 1492" as well as most of the songs from the other shows at Big Sur and Seattle. At the Sunset Junction festival, "Farmer" Dave dedicated "the Sun Surrounds Me" to Elliot Smith, who as I understand it, was on the bill at the Sunset Junction Festival the last time they played it.

Dan Horn was on the pedal steel, and "Farmer" Dave played the organ and added his voice to the harmonies, as well as lead on the previously mentioned songs. The rest of the line-up was the same as Big Sur (Ben Knight on guitar and Jennifer Lee Gunst on piano). It was a fantastic string of shows. I took a number of photos as well, but can't upload them because I'm from the East Coast and don't have the software for my camera loaded onto my laptop here in California. I'll take care of that this weekend after I return home and get them posted.

I can also say that the band sounded PHENOMENAL!!! Absolutely PHENOMENAL. And from an observer's point of view, the also looked like they were having a blast.

It was really a dream come true to see the Sparks in LA. I'm not sure if the line-up will be the same for the East Coast shows, but we will find out in a few weeks, right. Either way, they will be great shows.

Oh, there is also some footage of the show in LA at the Echoplex from Friday night on YouTube if anyone is interested.

The Tyde played at both the Echoplex and the Casbah in San Diego. In LA, Josh Schwartz (former Further and BWS) played guitar for the Tyde. He didn't make the San Diego show. The Tyde had some new songs and they were incredible. I hope that there's a new album on the horizon because those songs were very stellar.

All in all, both bands sounded absolutely amazing.

    Hello again,

I've got a bunch of photos from the three shows, but I'm not sure how to post them. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Just to add to my last post, I was among others who travelled a great distance to see these shows. I can't stress enough that if you love their music and you may have a means to get to one of these shows, DO IT!!! They are as amazing of a band live as they are on record, and more. They were incredible shows. I've never travelled across the country to see a band play before, but for Beachwood Sparks, I would do it again in a second. So, if you think you can make it to the East Coast for the next set of shows, you won't be disappointed!!! It was pure magic...

I couldn't agree more, Michael! I'm fortunate enough to live in New York, but I'd have definitely traveled if the Bowery Ballroom show wasn't happening.

And I've got my fingers crossed Farmer Dave makes the trip east!

Yeah, I'm planning on heading to NYC, too. The Philly show is a given because I'm only 50 minutes away. I am iffy on the show in Hoboken, but might make it to that one, too. That all being said, I was lucky enough to see the Big Sur show (which was in the redwoods...unbelievably amazing), which Farmer Dave didn't make. Whether he makes it East or not (and I also hope he does..."the Sun Surrounds Me" live is AWESOME), they will be great shows, 100% Beachwood Sparks shows. If he doesn't make it, I'm sure it's not because he didn't want to, it's because he couldn't, as was the same with Neal Casal.

I'm telling you, these guys are amazing live. I will be there, sporting my horse-head shirt and ready for a canyon ride.

Thanks guys, for the videos, reviews and pictures.
I hope they get things together, make and album, and play in London, UK.
